#Yeti40 - Marcin Tomaszewski

Marcin is a climber, alpinist, and instructor. Many times he was awarded in Poland and abroad for his climbing achievements. From the beginning of his mountain adventure, the most inspirational for him was to set new roads: first in the Tatras and later on the most inaccessible and vertical walls. Although he has already assembled an impressive collection of new lines on prominent mountains in the Karakorum, the Alps, Venezuela, Baffin, and Greenland, every year he feels an increasing want of more. His climbing activity is not only climbing in the mountains, but also the promotion of climbing in Poland through trainings, climbing sections, organization of competitions and shows, and conducting radio programs. In 2017 he published the book # Yeti40 which summarizes his climbing career so far.

ME, PUSTELNIK – meeting with Piotr Pustelnik

What price do you have to pay to climb the highest mountains in the world? The legendary climber Piotr Pustelnik tells his story for the first time. This book is like the best adventure novel. There is a cheerful, sometimes difficult childhood, a hero struggling with a serious heart disease, an overprotective mother, and a judo school. The book describes a growing passion for exploring the world, an unsuccessful attempt to complete the rock climbing course, the first climbs in the Tatras, and great Himalayan expeditions. In the story there is friendship, climbing partners, wonderful mountain landscapes, and an animal fear while facing the impending death. However, it is not a novel, but the real story illustrating the life of one of the best Polish mountaineers. Although, as the hero himself says, it is impossible or unnecessary to explain why people climb the mountains, this book gives it a try. Piotr's story was listened to by Piotr Trybalski, a journalist and photographer, an author of books and numerous publications, an awardee of the Travel Photographer of the Year.

THE MAGIC OF SKIS AND THE HISTORY ABOUT THE BEGINING OF SKIING IN POLAND

The book presentation and multimedia presentation by Wojtek Szatkowski (from Tatra Museum) about the beginnings of skiing in Poland in 1888-1914. It begins in 1888, when Polish ski pioneer Stanisław Barabasz has ordered his first skis. Wojciech Szatkowski is an alpine skier, a sports historian, a ski history enthusiast, the Tatra Museum employee, an author of 11 publications, and a Tatra Guide. He works for the magazines Tatry, Ski Magazyn, Góry and Gazeta Górska, where he publishes texts about the mountains.
