The book presentation and multimedia presentation by Wojtek Szatkowski (from Tatra Museum) about the beginnings of skiing in Poland in 1888-1914. It is a story of true passion, and the first such serious attempt to write down the history of Tatra skiing. A fascinating trip, or actually a travel through the years and mountains. It begins in 1888, when Polish ski pioneer Stanisław Barabasz has ordered his first skis. Wojciech Szatkowski is an alpine skier, a sports historian, a ski history enthusiast, the Tatra Museum employee, an author of 11 publications, and a Tatra Guide. He works for the magazines Tatry, Ski Magazyn, Góry and Gazeta Górska, where he publishes texts about the mountains.
Can you climb all the highest peaks of Polish mountain ranges in one year? Sure, you can. You just have to have a bit of self-denial, a proper organization, and an undying yearning for wandering. Bartek Andrzejewski and Rafał Uwijała, armed with cameras, backpacks, maps, and motivation, from January to December 2014 climbed all the "royal" peaks of Poland. The book contains descriptions of selected trails, information about each of the summits, some legends, and personal stories. Bartosz Andrzejewski is an editor-in-chief of PortalGorski.pl, also a founder and editor of OnTheSummit.pl. In the meantime Bartek also writes articles for the mountain magazine N.P.M.
